  1. For some reason I read a lot of books with this type of illustration as a little girl. I guess colonialized countries still idealize that kind of aesthetic, decades and centuries later. They're lovely, but they've always lef me with a funny feeling, like I'm somewhat saddened at the over-privileged and extremely sheltered lives that the children depicted in these images must have lived in regards to the tragic realities around them.
